Santa Clarita, Calif., November 29, 2011 – Animal Behavior College (ABC) announced it has added a Cat Management and Training course to their continuing education program (CEP) roster which includes Pet Sitting and Dog Walking, Training Shelter Dogs, and Teaching Private Lessons. This new curriculum offers pet professionals the opportunity to participate in a fast-growing and relatively untapped market. Students are taught the proper socialization techniques for developing healthy feline-to-human relationships, as well as feline-to-feline and feline-to-canine interactions. The course was written by Miriam Fields-Babineau who has authored 42 pet books.

Steven Appelbaum, President of ABC says, “Mastering cat training gives students additional skills to create increased business from veterinary offices, grooming salons and dog training clients who have cats. With 90 million cats in the United States the opportunities to generate business and help save the lives of animals who may otherwise be re-homed or abandoned
due to behavior challenges are extraordinary.”

The Cat Management and Training CEP is available to all of ABC’s certified dog training, dog grooming and veterinary assistant’s graduates. The course is online and students will learn how to read and interpret feline body language and vocalizations, how to teach basic behavior training (i.e. sit, stay, come), and how to address common behavioral challenges including litter box, spraying, phobias, scratching furniture and socialization. We will also focus on ways in which cat owners can transport their cats to the veterinary hospital. The completion of this program will give students invaluable knowledge necessary to help pet owners and make them a true asset in their chosen animal career.
