Heather Larson

Dog Training – Post Falls, Idaho 83835

I love to be around animals be  it training, going for walks, playing, or just hanging out.

I believe I am well qualified for anything you may have in mind as far as your pets are concerned.  In January 2014 I received my certification for Dog Training and Cat Management and Training.

I also have certificates for Shelter Dog Training and Pet Diet and Nutrition.  I currently volunteer at the Kootenai Humane Society.

I have been volunteering regularly for over two years.  July 2014  I received Volunteer of the month.

I help out in many capacities.  I started as a  dog walker, but I help with cleaning, feeding, laundry, and dishes when needed.

I also like to work at outreach programs, taking dogs to events to strut their stuff and give them a break from the kennel life for the day and hopefully find them a fur ever home!

I am part of the team that does behavioral assessments on new intakes.  This helps us learn more about the dogs and why they may have ended up there.

We test them with various stimuli, other animals, and read their body language to get a general idea of what type of home they would be best suited for.

It also helps us identify any problems such as aggression, fear, pain, injury, or just plain bad manners.

I work with new volunteers by helping them learn the ropes. (Getting in and out of kennels properly, fitting harnesses, and teach them how to work with the dogs while they are on leash).

I work with other traainers doing behavior modifications for the dogs that need it.  We also teach basic obedience.

I also help her with new volunteer training seminars.  Sometimes we go in just to walk all the dogs!

I am also involved with the Pawsitive Works Program where we team up shelter dogs with troubled teens.

It helps the teens learn valuable life lessons while training the shelter dogs to make them more adoptable.

I am a very responsible, honest, and dedicated worker.  I have one dog myself and she is the Queen of the castle. I rescued her from the streets of Omaha NE when she was 8 weeks old.  She was my inspiration to start my career as an animal trainer. It has changed my life for the better.  Working with animals is my passion.

I don't believe in bad animals! I believe they are just misunderstood!

I find this work to be very rewarding, and love every minute of it!!  I love animals, and I love to help people with their animals.
